About Me
I am a lifelong resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, a proud graduate of Spackenkill Schools and am running for Dutchess County Legislature District 5 in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
I am the daughter of Indian immigrants who built a respected medical practice in the area, leaving a lasting legacy in Dutchess County through their contributions to the health and well-being of its residents. They taught me the value of healthy people and community.
For many years, I’ve volunteered at the school, town, and county levels, working to advance equity, promote justice, and improve the lives of my friends and neighbors.
As an attorney with over 20 years of experience representing vulnerable populations, I’ve stood beside individuals and families through some of life’s most difficult moments. I’m also a devoted mother and lifelong member of this community, so I understand the values, hopes, and concerns that shape our everyday lives. Whether it’s young people building their futures, seniors seeking security, or working families trying to make ends meet, I know what matters most, share the concerns of my friends and neighbors and am glad to be a bold voice for those in need.
Beyond my professional and civic work, my family and I are passionate about animal rescue. Over the years, we’ve fostered hundreds of cats and dogs, and even some wild animals,. Today, we share our home with 12 rescue pets: 8 cats, 1 dog, and 3 birds. Our home is full of life, love, and compassion and I believe in giving back to the community.
I’m guided by empathy, shaped by experience, and deeply committed to serving this community. I would be honored to earn your vote!
